Abstract
To determine the Kanban number of multi-product and multi-stage system,an event-based modeling and simulation method was proposed.According to the flow characteristic of material and Kanbans,the models for the basic process unit,the supply of material and circulation of Work In Process(WIPs)and Kanbans were built by using the basic elements of SimEvent.With the entity preloading technology,a specified number of withdraw Kanban and production kanban were assigned in the initial simulation run.Different types of entities were recognized and dispatched by their respective attribute values.A SimEvent model of the multi-product and multi-stage system was developed,and the simulation results showed that the model could provide decision support for the numbers setting of two kinds of Kanban.
