A Clinicopathologic and Immunohistochemical Study of Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans

Abstract

Objective To explore the relationship among histological types,immunohistochemical staining and recurrence of dermatofihrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP).Methods A patients material was embedded in paraffin and had sections stained with HE,histochemistry and immunohistochemistry.Clinical and pathological analysis were done. Results forty-eight cases of tumors fell into the following groups:ordinary DFSP,myxoid DFSP and fibrosarcomapattern DFSP.Immunohistochemical staining showed that vimentin and CD34 were positive expression in all cases,the percentage of p53,PCNA and Ki67 positive expression were 33.3%,66.7% and 50%,respectively.Conclusions Histological types of DFSP and p53,PCNA,Ki67 expression in DFSP may serve as singnificant predicting factors for the prognosis of the patients.
