Discussion on the Parking Problems and Management Strategies for Shangyu City

Parking demand should be met reasonably. We should pay more attention to the parking management and control besides parking facility planning and construction,in order to slower the increase of parking demand,to optimize and improve the efficiency of parking supply,and to regulate the parking behavior. This paper first explains the function of parking management in urban transportation management,and then introduces some parking management strategies ,such as parking sharing ,optimizing and improving parking efficiency ,establishing more accurate and flexible building criterion,long-range parking and shunt service,implementing TOD strategies,improving parking information system,toll parking,etc. The authors summarized the main parking problems in Shangyu City. For example,parking management is inadequate,and the parking design is unreasonable. Considering these problems and the present situation of Shangyu City,this paper provides some specific parking management countermeasures for it,such as toll parking,promoting parking sharing,increasing capacity of present parking lots,improving parking design,improving pedestrian and bicycle trip environment,etc.
