Investigation on type 2 diabetes mellitus treatded by glipizide and gliclazide

Objective At different time during a day,glipizide and gliclazide were separately prescribed for patients suffering from type 2 diabetes mellitus,then examined their blood glucose,see whether a better control of it can be attained.Methods 63 patients were examined.Based on their respective varied curves of the changes of their blood glucose in a day,glipizide and gliclazide were separately prescribed,their blood glucose was investigated,and the doses should be timely adjusted.Four months later,their blood glucose and HbAlc of different periods of time together with those tested before the treatment were dealt with statistically.Results After the treatment for four months,the blood glucose and HbAlc of different periods of time were controlled,coming up to the standard in the main.There was an apparent improvement in the blood glucose and HbAlc,better than those before the treatment.Conclusions With the differences of the effective time and half life of glipizide and gliclazide,and in the light of the fluctuation of blood glucose,better control of blood glucose can be achieved,if taken separately.
