Abstract
Objective:To explore the value of two-dimensional ultrasound and integrated backscatter (IBS) of kidney in acute organophosphorus compounds poisoning rabbits. Methods:Twelve rabbits were poisoned in order to induce animal models. Ultrasonic examination was performed at the times before (T_0) and after(T_1……T_9) the rabbits were poisoned. The echo and the size of kidney were evaluated by two-dimensional ultrasound. The changes of parenchyma were quantitatively analyzed by IBS.Results:No change of cortex echo was found before and after poisoning. The significant change of the volume of both sides kidneys began at T_6 compared with that at T_0 (P0.05). The significant change of both sides renal length began at T_7 compared with that at T_0 (P0.05). The change of volume is early than that of length. The significant change of IBS% of renal cortex began at T_5 compared with that at T_0 (P0.05). The significant change of IBS% of renal medulla began at T_6 compared with that at T_0 (P0.05). The early IBS% change is that of renal cortex. Conclusion:More useful information offered by renal IBS% can be found in acute organophosphorus compounds poisoning rabbits.
