Study and Utilization of Forage Germplasm Resources in Jilin Province

Forage germplasm resources in Jilin province are abundant because of the significantly different ecological environment and geographical condition.Less than 20 forage cultivars have been released by using the forage breeding means of domestication,hybridization and mutagenesis,etc.for wild forage,and selection for introduced forage,the collection,preservation,identification,evaluation and integration for wild forage germplasm materials have been researched.But the research and utilization of forage germplasm resources are fall behind to meet with the need of forage industry development and ecological environment construction in Jilin province.The following suggestions to research and use forage germplasm resources is put forward,these are:to investigate the forage germplasm resources in the whole territory of Jilin;to strengthen the collection,identification and integration of forage germplasm resources;to conduct the safety preservation of forage germplasm resources;to strengthen the evaluation of forage germplasm resources;and to strengthen the utilization of forage germplasm resources and the breeding of high-quality and multi-resistant forage cultivars.
