Cultural Production and Construction of Ethnic Group Based on Historical Memory

This thesis intend to employ the theory of collective memory proposed by French scholar Maurice·Halbwachs to discover the function that the historical memory of a nationality plays in its cultural reproduction and ethnic group construction,taking the Sala for example.Collective memory can be divided into historical memory,social memory and individual memory.The author mainly discuss on historical memory of the Salars,studying the phenomenon that how a society(with comparatively small population) with no language maintain ethnic group and reinforce sense of ethnic group by historical memory.
