Abstract

The aim of this study was to identify the characteristics of winter wheat varieties in Hebei province in order to improve the technology of wheat breeding, cultivation and production. The winter wheat varieties examined from 2003 to 2008 in Hebei province were used to analyze the characteristics of wheat plant, yield and quality. The results are as follows, the young seedlings of wheat varieties were mainly half-prostrate,and half-winter varieties were more than winter varieties. The average growth period was about 242 days. The white grain varieties accounted for 98.51% of the total varieties, while the hard varieties accounted for 86.57%.The average yield was 466.6 kg/666.7 m2.The average plant height was 74.62 cm.The average kernel number per spike was 32.64.The average weight per thousand grains was 39.3 g.The average test weight was around 784 g/L.The average grain protein content was about 14%.This could provide useful information for the study of high-yield wheat breeding, cultivation and production.
