Abstract

Objective To evaluate the curative effect of preserved human amniotic membrane transplantation for the prevention from recurrence after excision of pteryfium Methods Amniotic membrane preserved by glycerine transplantation was performed in 42patients(46eyes) of pterygium, including 20patients(21eyes) with recurrent ptergium Results follow-up from 3 months to36 months,average19 monthes,in 40patients(44eyes) with pterygium, the epithelium healing was stable, the cornea was transparent and smooth, most patients visual avuity was improved, only 2 cases(2eyes) recurrence, recurrence rate was 4.5%.Conclusions Pterygium excision with preserved human amniotic membrane transplantation can significantly prevent the recurrence of pterygium.
