On the Progress of Chinese Literature in the New Century

The economic foundation determing the progress of Chinese literature in the new century is changing at an unprecedented speed.The paper tries to explore its present situation and strategies after briefly analysing the effect of an all-round building of a well-off society and globalization on our economy culture and politics.The writer is not making a comprehensive study of Chinese literature here.Instead he starts from the major problems in Chinese literature practices and elaborates on the seven relations in the progress of literature:(1)the main-stream literature and non main-stream literature;(2)propaganda literature and casual literature;(3)language literature and image literature;(4)pure literature general literature;(5)literature creation and technology revolution;(6)literature production and literature consumptim and finally;(7)theory creation reorganization of men of letters and literature progress.
