Abstract
This paper argues that contemporary Chinese American literature is supposed to start from 1970s, and takes a turning point in the 1990s. The paper intends to make a brief study of Chinese American literature with te new concept of“emerging literature.”Then it explores the reason why Chinese American literature has flourished since 1970s and concludes that Chinese American literature has already been in period of maturity.
