Abstract
The synthesis of dimethyl phthalate with phthalic anhydride and methanol as reactants and the D72 ion exchange resin as catalyst are studied. The effects of various factors such as the amount of catalyst, molar ratio, reaction temperature and reaction time on the reaction are studied. The results show that when the percentage of catalyst is 4%,molar ratio of phthalic anhydride to methanol is 1∶3,reaction temperature is 110 ℃ and reaction time is 6 h,the yield of dimethyl phthalate is about 99%.
