The clinical observation of plasma exchange treatment on patients with acute liver failure

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of plasma exchange treatment on the patients with acute liver failure.Methods 62 patients suffering from liver failure were treated by plasma exchange and general treatment.The efficacy were evaluated with clinic symptoms,biochemical and IFN-γ.Results The clinical symptoms of the patients,which underwent plasma exchange treatment, showed significant improvements.The serum total bilirubin,alanine aminotransferase (ALT),ammonia and IFN-γwere significantly lower (P0.05) and the prothrombin time significantly shorten.Conclusions Plasma exchange treatment can effectively improve the clinical symptoms and liver function. It need more study to find out whether the plasma exchange can correct the disorder of the immunologic function.
