Efficacy of plasma exchange in treatment of patients with liver failure

Objective To observe the efficacy of plasma exchange in treatment of patients with liver failure.Methods Besides the internal supporting treatment,patients with liver failure were also treated with plasma exchange.Liver function,renal function and prothrombin time were examined pre-and post-plasma exchange.Results After plasma exchange,patients had significant improvements in total serum bilirubin,direct bilirubin,serum albumin and prothrombin time(P 0.01).The clinical efficacy rate of the patients with liver failure in early,middle and end stage was 91.67%,50% and zero respectively.Conclusions Plasma exchange can effectively improve liver function and prothrombin time,and is an effective treatment for patients with liver failure.The earlier plasma exchange treatment,the better efficacy.
