Abstract
Effective teaching is regarded as a teaching theory and a teaching practice as well.Effective college English classroom teaching follows the general rules of teaching practice with the specific characteristics of itself.Teachers'teaching understanding and practice as well as students'participating and cooperating are essential factors contributing to the effectiveness of college English classroom teaching.Based on the analysis of specific characteristics and essential factors of effective teaching,this thesis explores strategies for college English teachers to promote effectiveness of college English classroom teaching,which includes varied teaching materials,appropriate teaching objectives,scientific teaching planning,good classroom English learning environment,active participation of the students and timely teaching evaluation and reflection of teachers.
