Short-term effect of ~(131)I treatment in Graves patients with hepatic dysfunction

Abstract

Objective To evaluate the short-term efficacy of 131I treatment in Graves patients with hepatic dy s function.Methods A total of 83 Graves patients with hepatic dysfunction were given 131I therapy,the changes of hepatic functions(ALT,AST,ALP,A/G)and thyroid hormone(FT3,FT4) were determined before treatment,after treatment 2 weeks,1 month,3 months,6 months.Results Compared with before treatment,the hepatic functions(ALT,AST,ALP,A/G) after treatment 2 weeks,1 month was no significantly change(P0.05),but the hepatic functions(ALT,AST,ALP,A/G) after treatment 3 months,6 months was significantly decreased(P0.01).Among 83 Graves patients with hepatic dysfunction,45 patient′s hepatic functions were normal after 131I treatment for 3 months,76 patient′s hepatic functions were normal after 131I treatment for 6 months,the function of thyroid was recovered in 47 cases(57%),improved in 19 cases(23%),decreased in 16 cases(19%) and ineffective in 1 cases(1%) after 131I treatment for 6 months.Conclusion 131I treatment is highly effective and safe for Graves patients with hepatic dysfunction.
