On the Study of the han School of Classical Philology On “The Book of Songs” in Ming Dynasty

It was traditionally believed that the Han school of classical philology commenced and became flourishing in Qing Dynasty. But actually it started and grew into a campaign in the middle of Ming Dynasty. The purpose of the revival of the Han school of classical philology on “the Book of Songs” was to break down the tight situation under Zhu zi's study on “the Book of Songs”, and to seek for the original meaning of the Songs. During this period of time there were three trends: the school of highly valuing Mao Shi but undervaluing Zhu Zi, the school of fusing Han and Song style, and the school of distinguishing Han studies.They gave Zhu zi's study on “the Book of Songs” a strong clash from different angles and bring a new life for Ming's study on “the Book of Songs”
