Abstract
Vocabulary is the essential element of language and is most sensitive to social changes.Neologism refers to a newly coined word or phrase,or an existing word or phrase with a new meaning.There are three main ways to coin new words in English: borrowing,old words with new meaning and creation.Creation,the major source of English neologisms,is the process by which new words are formed through traditional word-formation,including affixation,compounding,blending,shortening and analogy.
