On the Role of Association in the Formation of Artistic Conception——A Case Study of Ancient Chinese Poems

Abstract

Association, a special form of imagery thinking, is the main form of artistic thinking. The basic method of artistic fiction plays an important role in the literary creation, especially in the formation of artistic conception in lyrical poetry. This paper, taking ancient Chinese poetry for example, intends to emphasize the prominent position of association in the formation of artistic conception in poetry from three aspects: catalyst, contrast and extension.
