Abstract

Optical fiber linkage being adopted at physical layer in Gigabit Ethernet, this technology makes the data’s relaying speed increase 10 times at MAC layer, therefore the Gigabit Ethernet has advantages of wider band and improved performance/price. Through analyzing the technology of the Gigabit Ethernet , the authors introduce the typical model and updating of the Ethernet LANs or the rapid Ethernet LANs in details, that is valuable in practice.
