Abstract
Compared with the traditional ethernet, gigabit ethernet has powerful functions with its high speed, wide bandwidth and compatibility. Now gigabit ethernet technology is a new field of high speed LAN. Based on analysis of the structure of gigabit ethernet, this paper emphasizes the technology characteristic , discusses some key technology of gigabit ethernet and introduces several ways of upgrade from fast ethernet to gigabit ethernet.
