Abstract

There are three basic judgments about historical value of people-based thought in Confucianism.First,in the ancient China, the ideas of people-based thought in Confucianism, advocating the power of government should be in the hand of ruler, are matching with the autocratic monarchy well, which results in that people-based thought in Confucianism gets self-realization as the ruler thoughts.Second,in the process of China modernization,people-based thought in Confucianism neither developed democratic republic politics, nor democratic thoughts, from which we could see its negative effect of hindering the social progress.Third,in the construction of modern political civilization in China,we should not overestimate the historical value of people-based thought in Confucianism,or exaggerate the modern significance of Confucianism.
