Research on MRI Manifestations of Meniscus of Normal Knee Joint

Objective To study signal characteristics of the normal meniscus on MRI,and measure people's normal range of the meniscus.Methods 80 volunteers without any history of knee injuries or clinical symptoms were divided into four groups according to the age.The thickness of anterior horn,body and posterior horn of the meniscus were measured and the signal changes in the meniscus were observed.Results The meniscus showed triangles on MRI,and the thicknesses were different according to different ages and locations.Some normal meniscus showed stipple or punctuate high signal.Conclusion The thickness of normal meniscus changes according to different ages.Stipple or punctuate high signal can be seen in some normal meniscus.These signs should call our attention to avoid diagnostic errors and missed diagnosis of meniscus diseases.
