Abstract
Generally speaking, there are two types of communication——verbal and nonverbal.Verbal communication is frequently noticed in language teaching, while nonverbal communication is always ignored, which plays an indispensable role in communication.Nonverbal communication mainly studies body language, proxemics and paralanguage. It serves three primary functions: complementing, substituting and reinforcing. In addition,it should be used naturally, appropriately and in harmony with verbal language.
