Expression of Matrix Metalloproteinase-7 and Tissue Inhibitor of Metalloproteinase-1 in Gastric Carcinoma:Exploration Mechanism of Invasion and Metastasis

Abstract

Objective:To investigate the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-7(MMP-7)and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1(TIMP-1)in gastric carcinoma and their relationship with tumor cell invasion and metastasis.Methods:The immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of MMP-7 and TIMP-1 in 36 patients with gastric carcinoma.Results: The positive expression rate of MMP-7(58.3%)in gastric carcinoma was higher than that of paracarcinoma mucosa(5.6%)(P0.05),there was no difference of the expression of TIMP-1 between gastric cancer(44.4%)and paracarcinoma mucosa(50.0%).The expression of TIMP-1 decreased with the increase of TNM staging(P0.05).Conclusion: The expression of MMP-7 is related to the behavior of gastric carcinoma,and the expression of TIMP-1 probably inhibits tumor cell metastasis.
