Abstract
With PCR-mapping, DNA sequencing and bioinformatics approach, structure of an integron in a clinical isolate of Pseudomonas aeruginosa resisting to imipenem was studied. As result, a new integron with multi-resistance potential was identified. It contains a bla_(VIM-2 )gene cassette, which encoding a metallo-beta-lactamase, and an aacA4-like gene cassette, which encoding aminoglycoside 6′-N-acetyltransferase. Furthermore, the integron has a strong integrase binding site. All these imply the heterogeneity of intergron-gene cassette system in bacterial and the complexity of drug resistance mechanism in Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
