Abstract

Objective: To analyze the resistant mechanism to imipenem in a strain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa . Methods:Using modified three dimension test to analyze and classify the β lactamase produced by the strain; detecting the resistance genes by PCR; to screen and classify the integron by PCR RFLP; to amplify the variable region of integron by long fragment PCR; the PCR products were sequenced subsequently. Results:Clinical strain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa RJ213 carrying an integron mediated vim 2 β lactamase was found. Conclusions:Integron mediated VIM 2 type metallo β lactamase exists in Shanghai, clinical isolate which cause resistance to imipenem.
