Abstract

Objective To observe the efficacy of artificial liver support system (ALSS) in the treatment of severe hepatitis. Methods 20 cases were served as treatment group and 29 cases as control, both groups were similar in basic treatement. ALSS was used in the treatment group. The liver function levels before and after ALSS therapy were examined. Results After ALSS therapy, the liver function was significantly improved. The total bilirubin concentration was significantly decreased[ from 428.19 ± 134.15 umol/L to 253.94 ± 78.32umol/L( P 0.01) ]. The incidence of complications of hepatitis was fewer. The response rates of severe hepatitis in early stage, middle stage and late stage were 100% ,80% and 18.2% respectively. Conclusion The ALSS is effective in treating early and middle stage severe hepatitis.
