Abstract
The ecological footprint of Wuhu in 2006 was calculated and analyzed using the ecological footprint model, and the status of sustainable development in Wuhu was evaluated. The results showed that the ecological footprint per capita was 2.203 hm2,the ecological carrying capacity per capita was 0.277 hm2,the ecological deficit per capita was 1.926 hm2,and the ecological footprint need of 10 thousands yuan GDP was 1.051 hm2,which was far below the average level of China. The ecosystem in Wuhu was under overexploitation. The countermeasures of reducing the ecological deficit were put forward.
