Abstract

Hutchins thought the whole social education, especially higher education, was on the basis of liberal education . Liberal education possessed a positive advantage to develop forever humanity, cultivate students' excellent personalities and enhance the cohesive force in universities. At the same time, today, with the prompt development of society, liberal education could compromise and even syncretism with vocational education. This proposes the enlightenment of up building the ideas of world-class universities in China.
