Catalytic Synthesis of Sec-butyl Acetate by Y-β Composite Zeolite Supported Phosphotungstic Acid

Abstract

Using Y-β composite zeolite supported phosphotungstic acid(H3PWl2O40/Y-β) as catalyst,sec-butyl acetate was synthesized from acetic anhydride and sec-butanol.The effect of catalyst dosage,reaction time and ratio of sec-butanol to acetic anhydride on the yield of sec-butyl acetate was carefully studied.The results show that Y-β composite zeolite supported phosphotungstic acid has good catalytic activity;the best reaction conditions are as follows: when amount of acetic anhydride is 0.1 mol,ratio of sec-butanol to acetic anhydride is 1.2,the catalyst dosage is 0.75 g,reaction time is 30 min,the yield of sec-butyl acetate can reach 94.5 %.The catalyst can be reused for 5 times without obvious loss of its activity.The product was characterized by refractive index and IR.
