Abstract

This manuscript reported the acylation of cyclohexanol with acetic anhydride catalyzed by Y-β composite zeolite supported phosphotungstic acid(H 3 PW 12 O 40/Y-β).The effect of different factors such as the amount of catalyst, the ratio of cyclohexanol to acetic anhydride and reaction time on the yield of cyclohexyl acetate were systematically studied. The results show that Y-β composite zeolite supported phosphotungstic acid has a good catalytic activity. The best of reaction condition is found out as follows:the amount of acetic anhydride is 0.1mol,the ratio of cyclohexanol to acetic anhydride is 1.1,and the catalyst is 0.60g.The yield of cyclohexyl acetate reached 93.4% within 45min.The catalyst can be repeatedly used for 5 times without obvious loss of its activity. The product was characterized by refractive index and IR.
