Abstract

OBJECTIVE To explore the clinical curative effect of oral Meng Lu montelukast sodium in treatment of children with cough variant asthma. METHODS 70 cases with cough variant asthma were selected from January 2009 to August 2010 in our hospital, and they were randomly divided into observation group and control group. 35 cases were in each group. The two groups were given with antitussive and expectorant to prevent infection. The observation group was given with Meng Lu montelukast sodium. RESULTS In the study group, the total effective rate was 97.1% (35 / 35), and the control group was 71.4% (25 / 35). There was significant difference between them (P﹤0.05); FEV1, FVC and FEV1 / FVC were significantly improved after treatment in the two groups (P﹤0.05), The observation group was significantly greater improvement than the control group (P﹤0.05); The observation group cough relief and vanishing time were significantly earlier than those in the control group. There was significant difference between them (P﹤0.05); The recurrence rate of the observation group was 5.7% (2 / 35), and was 22.7% in the control group (8 / 35). There was singificant difference between the two groups (P﹤0.05); There were no adverse reaction in the two groups. CONCLUSION Conventional therapies combined oral Meng Lu montelukast sodium could significantly improve the efficacy in the treatment of cough variant asthma, rapid relief of symptoms, improve lung function, reduce recurrence, and had no adverse reaction, which is worthy of clinical application.
