Discussion on Pharmaceutical Economics of Fleroxacin and Ciprofloxacin in Treatment of Bacterial Infection

Objective To compare the economical effectiveness between fleroxacin and ciprofloxacin in the treatment of bacterial infection.Methods A total of 108 cases of bacterial infection were randomized into fleroxacin group and ciprofloxacin group(54/group).The fleroxacin group and the ciprofloxacin group were administered fleroxacin(0.2-0.4 g,intravenous drip,once per day) and ciprofloxacin(0.2-0.4 g,intravenous drip,twice per day),respectively.The treatment duration lasted for 7-14 days.Using cost-effectiveness analysis on pharmaceutical economics,the comparison was drawn between the two drugs.Results The heal-up rates were 79.63%(fleroxacin group) and 68.52%(ciprofloxacin group),and the effective rates were 90.74%(fleroxacin group) and 85.19(ciprofloxacin group),respectively.The cost-to-effectiveness ratio of ciprofloxacin was lower than that of fleroxacin for the treatment of three types of bacterial infection.Conclusion The economical effectiveness of ciprofloxacin is superior to that of fleroxacin for the treatment of bacterial infection.
