Abstract
Objective To explore the diagnosis, prognosis and curative effect of serum vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in patients with lung cancer. Methods 50 lung cancer serum specimens were detected by sandwich enzyme-linked immunoabsorbent assay (ELISA) and 40 normal healthy as controls. Statistical analysis was performed by using the SPSS 10.0 software package. Results Serum VEGF level of patients with lung cancer was significantly higher than that in normal controls (P0.001). The serum VEGF level was significantly higher in advanced lung cancer patients (stage Ⅲ~Ⅳ) than that in early stage (stage Ⅰ~Ⅱ) (P0.01).The VEGF level in lung cancer patients with lymphnode metastasis was higher than that in lung cancer patients without lymphnode metastasis (P0.05). Conclusion The serum VEGF level may be used as a new tumor marker of lung cancer for diagnosis and monitoring the progress of the disease.
