Analysis on Injury-related Death and Life Lost among Residents in Gaomi City from 2004 to 2005

[Objective] To understand the status of injury-related death,injury characteristics and years of life lost among residents in Gaomi,to provide a scientific basis for making practical prevention and control measures.[Methods]Injury-related death data investigated from 2004 to 2005 which was the 3rd national retrospective study of cause of death in Gaomi were analyzed.[Results]Altogether 1 197 injury-related death cases were reported from 2004 to 2005,the annual average mortality rate was 70.26/105,standardized mortality rate was 64.38/105.Average annual mortality was 100.37/105 and 40.08/105 in male and female(P0.01).It was 26.60/105,68.87/105,63.09/105,84.99/105,274.59/105 in the people aged from 0 to 14,15 to 34,35 to 54,55 to 74 and over 75 years old(P0.01).Major causes of injury-related death were traffic accidents(559),suicide(212),drowning(135),potential years of life lost(PYLL)of injury-related death was 31 002.5 person-years,the working years of potential life lost(WYPLL)was 36 363.90 person-years.[Conclusion]The injury-related death rate is at a general level in Gaomi city,the main causes of injury-related death are traffic accidents and suicide.
