Analysis of the correlation between sperm vitality and other parameters of the semen from infertile men

Abstract

Objective To study the relationship between sperm viability and sperm concentration, motility, percentage of progressive sperm and normal sperm. Methods the semen sample from 775 infertile men attending to ambulant clinic was examined by the methods introduced by WHO. Results there were significantly difference between sperm viability and sperm concentration, motility, percentage of progressive sperm and normal sperm(r=0.175, 0.803, 0.749, 0.247, respectively). Conclusions sperm viability may serve as a key parameter of seminal analysis and play an important role in evaluating the function of sperm.
