Abstract
The ecological footprints and ecological capacity of the Sichuan Province from 1993 to 2002 have been studied based on the ecological footprint theory and calculation method. The calculation results show that there was an obvious per capita ecological footprint increase and per capita biological capacity(per capita) decrease in the Sichuan Province between 1993-2002.The ecological footprint surpassed biological capacity, and the development at this rate was unsustainable. Moreover,it has pointed out the key strategies to maintain sustainable development of the Sichuan Province.
