Abstract
By building an economic growth model including industrial agglomeration and innovation agglomeration, the paper analyzes the power source of economic growth in the Yangtze River Delta from 1998 to 2010 in 16 cities empirically. The result shows that with the control of labor input, capital investment, and institutional-change factors, industrial agglomeration does not significantly affect urban economic growth. The power of innovation is the premise to produce a significant role in the economic performance of a city. The interaction of high-quality innovation agglomeration and unban industries agglomeration is helpful to create positive and lasting influence on economy.
