A Personal View on “Treating Poem As Ci”

Chen Shidao came up with the theory that Su Shi “treated poem as ci,It was a reflection of his independent scholarship spirit and also was very influential in his era.The theory marked the beginning of the dispute in the history of ci that the style of ci as a literary genre should be respected.It is mostly out of subconsciousness that Su Shi treated poems as ci.Objectively,the basic reason for his viewpoint is the great influence of the charm of the traditional poems.The key point of “treating poem as ci”is reflected in three aspects;His “treating poem as cishould not be considered as the official of ci.The real purpose was to create an elegant art.
