Abstract
Objective To evaluate clinical effects about the prevention of postexodontic dry socket (DS) by the tinidazole-iodoform gelatin sponge embedded in socket after impacted mandibular third molar extraction. Methods 21Opatients with impacted mandibular third molar were divided into two groups at random with 105 in each group. In test group tinidazole-iodoform sponge was put into the socket after impacted mandibular third molar extraction Control group was the blank control. Postexodontic dry socket of the two groups were observed after treatment. Results Dry socket (DS) incidence rate in test group and control group was 0.96% and 6.67%. There was statistically different between the test group and the control group (P0.05). Conclusions The result demonstrated that tinidazole-iodoform gelatin sponge embedded in socket after tooth extraction could prevent efficientyly the occurrence of DS.
