Abstract
Objective To study the clinical curative effect of glass fiber post applied in the restoration of residual roots and crowns of anterior teeth. Methods 108 anterior teeth of 76 patients in the Department of Stomatology in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Bengbu Medical College were selected. All the teeth had large area defects. And cast post and core on the restoration of the defects were needed for these teeth. All the teeth were randomly divided into the observation group 60 teeth and the control group 48 teeth after perfect root canal treatment. Glass fiber post and casting metal post restoration were respectively given to the two groups. And the all-ceramic dental crown restoration was given to them too. All of the patients were followed up for every 6 months after the restoration. Masticatory function, gingival color, periodontal pocket, secondary caries, the fall off of the pile nuclea, the break of pile nuclear and periapical periodontitis were compared. The clinical effect was evaluated. Results All the cases were followed up at least twelve to twenty-four months. In observation group,1 pile nuclear was found broken,1 restoration was loose and 1 restoration fell off. So the restoration of 57 teeth succeeded and three failed. And the success rate was 95%. There was 1 loose restoration,1 lost restoration,2 dental root fracture and 4 gingival discoloration in the control group. So the restoration of 40 teeth succeeded and eight failed. The success rate was 83%. There were statistically significant differences( P 0. 05) in the success rate of the two groups. Conclusion The glass fiber post restoration applied in the residual roots and crowns in anterior teeth had more better effect than that of metal post and could better meet the clinical needs.
