Abstract

Ancient five-character poetry of late Tang Dynasty, which is deep-going in criticism and extensive in content , has a great influence on the inheritance and development of the new Yuefu movement of the middle Tang Dynasty in five aspects. Ancient five-character poetry of late Tang Dynasty is skilled in comment and narration, playing a transitional role in the formation of the poetry in prose-style of the Song Dynasty, and its creative principle of free-genre and expression without flowery wording provides a practical basis in the construction of Sushi's literary theory. Ancient five-character poetry of late Tang Dynasty tends to change its expressive way so as to intensify its critical force, and its languages are terse and thought-provoking.
