Abstract
Objective To investigate the situation of iodized salt practicing measures, the nutrition status of iodine and the trend of iodine deficiency disorders in Chengdu from 2006 to 2012,and to evaluate the preventive effect. Methods The iodine concentration of salt from households, the urinary iodine levels of 8-10 years old students and the goiter rate were monitored and statistically analyzed. Results From 2006 to 2012,the edible salt iodized salt coverage, the qualified rate of iodized salt and the qualified iodized salt consumption rate all surpassed 90%.The median urinary iodine of8-10 years old students were greater than 100 μg/L,fluctuating within a range of 200 μg/L.The goiter rate decreased from 4.71% in 2006 to 1.11% in 2012 in 8-10 years old children. Conclusion The iodine deficiency disease surveillance indicators in Chengdu all meet the national standards for the elimination.Yet,the level of iodine nutrition in schoolchildren needs to be further observed, and the iodized salt market supervision and the health education should be both strengthened.
