Abstract

The functions and application methods of ChemCAD were introduced. The SCDS rectification model of ChemCAD software was used in the simulation of the salt extractive distillation process of ethanol-water system at 101.325 kPa,the mole fraction 11% of ethanol solution and ethanediol-lithium chloride(mole fraction 2.9% of lithium chloride) solution as extractant. The simulation results were verified with experiment. The vapor-liquid equilibrium of ethanol-water before and after adding extraction solvent, the temperature distribution,vapor-liquid flow distribution, liquid flow distribution of different components, vapor flow distribution of different components along with tray number change in distillation column were simulated. As the intrinsic mechanism of distillation process is quite complex, there are many controllable parameters, and higher control requirement, but this simulation system can meet the production requirements on the basis of the regulation and control.Simulation results and experimental data agree satisfactorily. It has certain directive significance to real production.
