Abstract

Using polyethylene wax(mass percent: 0%~15%) and stearic acid(mass percent: 0%~60%) as additives, the paraffin was modified, the water bath method was used to measure the drop melting point and viscosity. The experimental results show that the polyethylene wax and stearic acid have certain effect on paraffin melting point and viscosity;when polyethylene wax content is in the range of 10%~15%,properties of modified paraffin wax is apparently improved, the drop melting point slowly increases, then it maintains stability. When polyethylene wax content is in the range of 3%~5%,the melting point of paraffin wax increases rapidly. When polyethylene wax content is 3% and stearic acid is in the range of 5%~25%,the drop melting point of modified paraffin wax decreases;when stearic acid is in the range of 25%~60%,the drop melting point of modified paraffin wax rises, but rising effect is not obvious.
