Abstract

In Tang Dynasty,Buddhism reached its best and formed a religion with Chinese characteristics.The development of Buddhism brought great crisis to Confucianism.To restore the authority of Confucianism,some scholars of that time tried their best and Liu Zongyuan is the representative of them,He absorbs actively the essence of Buddhism and advocates the confusion of Confucianism and Buddhism.Thus,Confucianism had a further development in Tang Dynasty and exerts an important influence on the formation of Cheng and Zhu philosophy in North-Song and South-Song Dynasties.
