Abstract

Different people view differently on the article Gu(Organic Unity) in Liu Xie’s The Literary Mind and the Carving of Dragons,which indicates that the category of has been extended infinitely to an ever wider theoretic range in modern context.The word Feng in the article means to express one’s feelings and emotions brilliantly and explicitly thus to inspire people,while Gu means the es-sential and powerful diction that can represent people’s feelings and will exactly.Therefore,the word Gumeans to express one’s thought brilliantly,vividly and explicitly by using straight,skilled and refined language,so that the article can be appealing and affecting in artistic level.Liu Xie’s aesthetic ideal is the unification of and ornate diction.
