Abstract
In this article,relationship between the thickness of a tube 3He proportional counter and its detection efficiency are studied by Monte Carlo simulation of monoenergetic neutron and Hess spectrum neutrons.A 5-cm thickness of the polyethylene modulator is thus determined.Finally,utilizing a 252Cf neutron source and the natural neutron background,the detector sensitivity is calibrated.
