Abstract
Objective To investigate the efficacy of lumbar cistern continuous drainage in the treatment of traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage in early period. Methods 195 cases with traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage(TSAH)were divided into 2 groups randomly.110 cases in the odd number group were treatment group treated with early continuous lumbar cistern duainage, contraryly 85 cases in the even number group were control group treated with lumbar puncture daily. The clinical symptoms and incidences of sequelaeand prognosis in the two groups were compared to determine the efficacy. Results The treatment group was significantly more than control group in CSF drainage volume daily, but significantly shorter in the time of CSF pressure come back, the time of cleaning bloody CSF,unconsciousness and headcche lasting time.Between two groups, the recent complication including of infection in brain and subdural hygroma had no significant difference, but control group was significantly more than treatment group in the late complications, including of hydrocephaly and epilepsy.Additionally, treatment group was significantly better than control group in GOS prognosis score. Conclusion Lumbar cistern continuous drainage is effective in treating TSAH in early period. It can relieve the clinical symptoms as early as possible, reduce epilepsy, and improve prognosis.
